“7
Basic Do’s for your Senior Photo Shoot”
by Thometz Photography
It’s an exciting time in your life and your senior photo shoot should be all about you! How many experiences do you get in life when you are the absolute focus? Here are 7 tips from Thometz Photography to help make your senior photo shoot a success!
1. You’ve got to love what you’re wearing! It doesn’t matter if it’s a favorite pair of old jeans, or a brand new pair - they have to be comfortable and you should feel great wearing them! Additionally, if comfort to you is an old pair of jeans with holes, beat up cowboy boots and a flannel…that’s fine! But be sure to bring one piece of clothing that dresses you up. For guys try a sports jacket. You can throw it on with your jeans and boots. It elevates and puts something extra into the shot. For gals it’s typically a dress …just make sure you feel awesome in it! Not every shot has to have the “dress up” look, but you'll want to have a few - you know, to make grandma happy, which will increase the cash and/or cookies she'll send you while you're away at college!
2. For guys who typically have a clean shaven face - Shave! Stubble shows up in photos.

3. For gals, consider getting
your hair and makeup done by a professional. If you're handy in this department, by all means do it yourself. But if you don't know the difference between mascara and liquid liner, consider going to a pro. Just make sure they listen to your preferences. (Look for a post about makeup coming soon).
4. Brush and floss your
teeth. This may seem obvious, but some seniors show up with dinner in their teeth and it shows ;)
5. Bring something that says
you. It may seem cliché to bring a
football, or a violin, etc., but we're there to capture you. Bringing your “thing” helps keep your photos from being the generic senior standing near a tree looking off into the sunset - sort of photos.
6. Iron your clothing. Really and truly. Put them on hangers and hang them from the hooks in your car. Enough said.
7. Avoid gym shoes unless they
are cool and stylish. Shoes are part of your outfit but ugly, old gym
shoes can ruin an otherwise great photo. Even if the beat up Vans you got
when you were a sophomore are your favorites, at least bring a back up
pair so we have something more to choose from.
